Regulatory compliance

Comply with laws mandating protection of and access to information

In the U.S., many new laws mandate increased access to information, such as the No Child Left Behind Act, or require increased security and privacy of information, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, California Senate Bill 1386 and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Failure to meet these requirements can result in heavy fines and even prison terms.

Security is also becoming more stringently controlled in Europe through such recent regulations as Common Criteria and FIPS-140. While privacy regulations in Asia and Latin America are not as stringent, the fact that these regions are part of the global economy is exerting pressure to balance the “free and efficient flow of information” with “the protection of intellectual property rights, privacy and data security,” according to the Seoul Declaration on privacy and the Asia Pacific Information Infrastructure.

IT administrators are in the hot seat to meet the regulations that are in force in any country in which their company does business.

Citrix delivers a number of benefits for achieving regulatory compliance, including:

  • Assures compliance through a “secure by design” foundation and granular control of enterprise resource access based on user, device, location, and network connection

  • Uses a “VPN everywhere” approach to ensure the encrypted transmission of all network data

  • Controls information by automatically determining whether users may download, edit, print, or preview documents

  • Protects information from inadvertently being left on client devices

  • Reduces likelihood of sloppy password management causing security breaches

  • Tracks who accesses what applications when, as well as all password change events

  • Lowers costs to achieve and maintain corporate standards and regulatory compliance

  • Enables on-demand monitoring and reporting of IT infrastructure access controls
